Sweet Cinnamon Biscuits with Apple Cider Glaze
Ingredients:
- 2 cups self-rising flour + more for flouring hands and board
- ⅓ cup brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ cup salted butter or shortening
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ¼ cup apple cider
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 2 tablespoons salted butter
- ½ cup apple cider
- 1 cup sifted powdered sugar
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 475ºF. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly coat with nonstick cooking spray.
- Whisk together flour, sugar, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl. Cut in butter with a pastry blender or with two forks. Stir in buttermilk and apple cider until just combined.
- Turn dough out onto a floured surface. Lightly flour hands and pull together the ball of dough. Gently pat the dough into large disc about ½-inch thick. Cut biscuits using a 2-inch cutter. Place biscuits onto prepared sheet pan and bake until lightly browned and cooked throughout, about 12 minutes. Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter.
For the Apple Cider Glaze:
- Add the butter and apple cider to a small saucepan set over medium heat. Whisk together until the butter has melted completely. Remove from heat and whisk in the powdered sugar until smooth.
